Nov 2005: Portable Dual Rotary Platen MGS Mfg. Group expands its Universal Multishot Systems (UMS) equipment line with a new, twin horizontal, servo driven, rotary-platen turntable for multifaceted rotating stack molds used in multi-material molding. It is engineered to increase productivity and flexibility - it can easily be moved between any brand of molding machines at a molder's plant.
The system was designed and built to support twin, two-faced, 16-cavities-per-face tooling to manufacture a multi-material product in one of its customer's standard 1000-ton injection molding machines. The second shot is supplied via a vertically mounted UMS Portable Injection Unit that will be added to the existing press. Parts will be robotically removed with UMS designed and -built EOAT. MGS also produced the special fixtures for the cell. All UMS products feature Allen-Bradley controls. The company plans to exhibit its portable multishot molding rotaries at NPE 2006.

Jun 2005: Second Annual ‘Round of Hope’ Golf Outing: The Second Annual Round of Hope Golf Outing (July 28th) is to continue the dream and wishes of last year’s organizer, Lew Butler. It was Lew’s efforts and desire that made the First Round of Hope not only possible, but successful. It was very important to Lew that we continue the Round of Hope, in order to benefit cancer patients and cancer research. In Lew’s memory, and on behalf of the many cancer survivors, we are inviting you to participate in the Second Annual Round of Hope. Linda Brehmer (Co-Founder). Contact the MGS Mfg. Group for more information about how you can help us touch the lives of cancer patients and their families.

Jan 2005: Custom Systems for Special Molding Jobs: MGS Mfg., Germantown, Wis., a supplier of portable add-on injection units and tooling components, has rolled out a new service to supply custom systems for standard, multi-component, and insert molding in horizontal and vertical configurations. Its new Modular Molding System (MMS) integrates the entire cell—including tooling, jigs, fixtures, injection barrels, control panel, and the support frame. It can be a stand-alone system or integrated with an existing press. In some cases the clamping can be integrated into the tool, so a standard press can be eliminated. The company’s Universal Multishot System (UMS), a portable injection unit, can be designed in horizontal or vertical configurations and delivers shot sizes from about 0.5 g to 36 oz. Other UMS components include vertical and horizontal rotary platens, core-pull and valve-gate controls, and robot integration.
